MUSIC AND TERRITORY: DO SPACES OF COOPERATION EXIST?

Paris Mix and Mila are experimenting with innovative approaches in the 18th arrondissement. Their goal : creating new space and meeting points between the 70 creative firms and this territory.

For a few months now, Paris Mix, Mila and a team of researchers have been gathered around Labsic (université Paris 13) to try and collectively observe the strategies and modalities of organization as well as action of the actors of the music scene, not only for their own development but also for the recognition of their economic activities in their given territory.


  • Presentation of a study about the issues of proactive political action fostered by Paris Mix and Mila in regards to professionals of the music industry in the 18th arrondissement.

  • Call for participation for research teams

  • Presentation of a comparative observation of the importance of musicians on a particular territory in the UK and in France.

  • Official presentation of the merger between Paris Mix and Mila, as well as the birth of Cluster Paris Musiques

Considering the important change of the music sector and the emergence of creative industries, face to their technological and economic consequences, more than 37 labels (Mila) and 42 enterprises, institutions and associations (Paris Mix) based in Paris  gathered to create the structuring organization. The aim of the Mila and Paris Mix is to reinforce the music industry in Paris  with a pooling of new human resources, technical means and a development of common cultural, social and economic projects: business incubator, the Mix Box (video set, showcase), Group'Emploi (grouping of employers to pool jobs) The Citizen Box (coworking area), "Music and Internet" training sessions, Live conference « La Musique Demain », strategic watch about digital technologies).
