THE SHARING OF VALUE, AN INEVITABLE IDEA...

For the last two years it has been one of the main topics discussed, and it continues to be to this day.
Mutations within the music industry, the progression of digital, the evolution of new technologies and new economic models force us to think about a rebalancing of revenue between different actors in the value chain, from the creation to the exploitation of content. Knowing that this is a sensitive subject, whether it be the demands of one side or the opposition of the other, the goal of this panel is to calm the debate, to sift through the entrenched positions and power balance, to try to collectively imagine a new key to sharing, adapted to today's context, balanced and viable for all parties involved (creators, artists, labels, online platforms...) and coherent in respect to their added value. Utopia, or inevitable change? The subject is all the more relevant, given that on last July 14th, more than 700 independent labels from the world over, reunited through WIN (The Worldwide Independent Network), published a common declaration in favor of a fair sharing of the value within the digital economy and contractual relations that are more balanced for artists.
A few days later, the IMMF (the worldwide syndicate for managers) also published a declaration in favor of transparent revenues, honest partnerships, and a fair sharing between creators (authors, artists), labels and online services, that would be in the interest of the consumer as well.
