PANORAMA ON PERFORMING ARTS POPULAR AND VARIETY MUSIC COMPANIES


Providing the profession, its representative organizations and its partners information on the economy of participating companies within the sector of the activity of performing arts in the field of popular and variety music, is the objective of a study published in October 2014 by the CNV. These performing arts popular and variety music companies were put under the microscope using their social, financial and budgetary data from 2008 to 2012, and were analyzed according to the different types of performing arts activities that they perform. The weight of these companies within the whole performing arts sector is also estimated and compared to other activity sectors. With the quickly rendered results, the CNV proposes a debate on the principal lessons and findings of the study. Professionals from within the sector will be present to react and share their thoughts on the current economic and social status of performing arts popular and variety music companies.

The CNV is a public organization overseen by the Ministry of Culture. Created in 2002, its main mission is to support live entertainment.
The CNV collects a tax and redistributes the funds to entertainment companies as financial aid. The amount paid is decided at commissions, each one dedicated to a specific aspect of the performing arts.
